Buying Modern Art And Canvas Art

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Art is far more accessible to buy and view right now. Even famous works of art are being loaned out to local galleries so a wider audience can see them. There is less stuffiness regarding art. Artwork can now be ordered more readily in bespoke commissions or particular colours and themes can be stipulated. A few years ago, this was an absolute no go area, the artist ruled and what they said was final. There are a number of artists now offering an easier to reach bespoke service, both by way of approaching the artist but also in terms of cost. Not everyone has the money to buy modern canvas art produced by famous artists so it has enabled the not so famous but equally as talented new artists to produce work and be successful selling them. Canvas art is quite dramatic as the medium used is either oil or acrylic paint. Both achieve high depth in colour and on a bright white wall, a piece of canvas artwork on a stretched canvas frame has maximum impact.Art can be bought in many different forms, one very in vogue at the moment is canvas art. The canvas is stretched over a wooden frame and oil or acrylic paint can be used or even mixed media. The canvas stands away from a wall and enables the painting area to go right to the edge. Painting around the edges can also be done for an enveloped look.Art is the perfect gift for someone very special. Some artists offer the service of recreating a memorable photo into oil or acrylic. This is a highly personal and special gift and something completely unique. Such a service has been enabled to be found through the internet. The internet has been the most influential part in enabling art to be reached to the masses and now being more accessible. Galleries that were once confined to purely the premises can now sell and advertise their work online and reach the whole country in fact, the world. Artists that may not have been able to afford a gallery premises can now sell their art online, reaching a far wider audience. In the respect of the consumer, a huge variety of artist’s styles, genres, media and themes can be chosen from. Mail order has enabled the artwork to be sent when collection is not obtainable. There are artists in the UK that through the internet, have been able to sell their work to clients abroad. This brings in a whole new market and is extremely exciting.Guest artists are now selling their canvas artwork through large department stores. As with many of the supermarkets that stock local produce, this is a similar occurrence in department stores with local artists. Even if not local, then an artist can sell their work through a selection of stores.Interior design has become high in a home owners mind in recent years with shows such as 60 Minute Makeover, Changing Rooms and other home make over shows. Artwork is always a large part of the overall finish of the room that has been decorated. Interior designers are working more and more closely with artists for artwork that complements the interior of a room. A piece of canvas art can make a huge difference to the way a room looks and feels and can transform a drab, boring room into something very special. So, to conclude, art is one of the oldest forms of enjoyment yet new technology has in fact transformed and lifted art. It has made people feel more comfortable about art and that it is available for anyone, not just the rich or privileged.

The Popularity of Modern Acrylic Canvas Art

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Acrylic paint is a modern media when compared with watercolour and oil. Oil for example has been used by artists as far back at the 15th century and watercolour has been used as an artist medium since the Renaissance. With such history of these other two mediums, acrylic is always fighting to gain recognition. Acrylic has distinct characteristics as oil and watercolour do and the National Acrylic Painters’ Association was set up in 1985 to champion and support this media. Acrylic is capable of the widest range of approaches of any artist media and enables even more creativity, fresh ideas and progression. Artwork has been created in acrylic paint but artists such as Andy Warhol, Robert Motherwell, Mark Rothko, Bridget Riley and David Hockney to name just a few. There are now a huge number of artists producing canvas artwork using acrylics and making the optimum use of this versatile media. It has enabled canvas art to be bought by a wider audience due to its fast drying nature and artwork can be created much quicker so a real business can be made out of acrylic artwork. Exhibitions have been in such prestigious venues as the Westminster Gallery and the Durham Art Gallery solely exhibiting and championing acrylic work. Books have been written purely on the characteristics of acrylic paint such as “New Tricks and Techniques for Working with the World’s Most Versatile Medium” by Nancy Reyner and “The New Acrylics:Complete Guide to the New Generation of Acrylic Paints.Modern art is defined from the 1860’s to the 1970’s in terms of galleries and art history. In recent years the appeal of modern art in a widespread context has occurred. The new style of modern, open plan living had made for the need of equally as modern and unique art for the white stark walls. The apartment living scene has especially contributed but even older style houses are having walls taken down to make way for the open plan living so popular today. Not everyone has the money to buy modern canvas art produced by famous artists so it has enabled the not so famous but equally as talented new artists to produce work and be successful selling them. Canvas art is quite dramatic as the medium used is either oil or acrylic paint. Both achieve high depth in colour and on a bright white wall, a piece of canvas artwork on a stretched canvas frame has maximum impact.Clean lines and minimal aesthetics are the keys with many of the latest wave if modern art pieces. Another impressive move in the artwork is that artists today are actually quite happy to produce bespoke artwork specifically for the client from their own specifications. For example a piece of artwork is often created to specifically suit the interiors of the room it is commissioned for both in style and colour. This is quite a shift from what many people conceive in artists. It is making modern art even more modern and allows the owner of the artwork to have input creating an even more personal piece.

Modern Oil Paintings

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I have been buying modern oil paintings for a show in my gallery.  I have found many nice pieces.  I found a painting called Village in winter in a private collection in Illinois.  The artist was Fern Isabel Coppedge and she was an American.  I liked the piece because of the snowy scene.  It reminded me of my childhood. While on a buying trip, I found Clouds Over Buckingham.  This was a really nice modern oil painting that was in a private collection in Pennsylvania.  I have seen work by this artist before and it always resells very well.Buying modern oil paintings has taken me to various places across the United States.  I especially liked Main Line, Pennsylvania.  That is where I acquired Leaning Silo.  The artist of Leaning Silo was Arthur Meltzer.  I had been previously unfamiliar with him.I enjoyed my trip to Long Island City.  I was buying modern oil paintings and found one from a French artist named Georges Antoine Rochegrosse that I really liked.  This painting was painted around 1900 and it was full of flowers.  I really liked it and think it will do well in the show.I find that I can buy modern oil paintings very efficiently on the internet.  I found an art dealer in the United Kingdom that finds me some very nice items to show.  Recently, he sent me a painting of a nude beauty by British artist Allan Douglas Davidson. The modern oil painting depicted a young Bohemian woman wearing only flowers in her hair.  She also has large gold earrings. She is posed against a dark background which highlights the perfection of her creamy skin. The still life I recently acquired was so amazingly real looking.  This was one of the most beautiful modern oil paintings that I’ve found.  The detail was exceptional and the representation of the blooming rose was breathtaking.I was so lucky when I found an original Max Ernst modern oil painting.  The title of the piece I found was Arizona Desert.  I really think it will do well in my show and I didn’t even pay half of what I think it is really worth.  It will make a great addition to someone’s collection.I found a modern oil painting by the Spanish artist Grifoll that I liked.  I’m not sure how well this painting of a clown will sell, but I liked it and I think that there is bound to be someone who just can’t live without it.I just adore paintings that depict Paris.  I don’t even care about the period or the style.  I was able to find a really nice modern oil painting by Edouard Cortes for my show.  The painting depicts flower vendors and a horse carriage.  I almost feel like I’m in turn of the century Paris when I look into it for a long time. There are a lot of modern oil paintings that depict roses.  I plan to have a grouping of several at my show.  I was able to buy a painting by Theresa Bernstein called Roses that she painted in the 1940s.  She lived to be 111 years old and that is pretty amazing.A popular theme among modern oil paintings is nautical.  I really do not like nautical paintings and don’t want them in my show.  I have had several friends implore me to change my mind.  I keep being told that I can’t possibly have a show of modern oil paintings that does not include a ship.I had an assistant bring in a modern oil painting that had an interesting history.  It was more because of the history of the painting that I decided to hang it than because of its content.  The ship scene was really not to my liking, but I bought it anyway.I have been looking for an antique street scene painted by Bettylane Resnik.  I saw a modern oil painting by her in an art catalog that depicted a really colorful street scene.  I can’t seem to find the current owner, but I’m trying.  I think that it would complete my show.
